In the early Autumn of 2022 a once in a generation natural disaster took place on the North Eastern coast of New South Wales, Australia. The family house that I grew up in with my sisters was lost to the flood.
'Grace Land' is a photobook series based on this event - a visual representation of grief, loss, and the erasure of memory and place. An exploration of the tangible and intangible told through a series of vignettes depicting this immense loss of a family home. It is a deeply personal story ruminating on this catastrophic event, centering on the relationship of two sisters and one brother. 'Grace Land' unfolds as a memory and interweaves this tragedy through poetic imagery and the devastation caused by the ongoing climate crisis.
